What to do in Los Angeles California

Los Angeles is the largest city in California and the second largest city in the United States. It is located in the southern California coast about 75 miles (120 km) north of the Mexico border and 400 miles (600km) south of San Francisco. It has a lot of beautiful places and tourist attractions. Among them are:

Hollywood:

The best way to see Hollywood is on a walking tour. Most attractions are located a few blocks from the Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. The courtyard of the Chinese Theater, as it is known in Hollywood, is one of the most popular attractions in Hollywood for all the handprints and patterned shoes from Hollywood celebrities since 1927.

The Walk of Fame at the Hollywood Boulevard honors those who have put their mark on certain films, music and theater by giving them a star placed on the side of the street. You can spend hours looking for your favorite stars such as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Tom Hanks, etc..

There are many things you can do on Hollywood. One of them is to visit the homes of movie stars in special tourist vans. Most of them starts from the Chinese theater and the price is varied depending on the length of the tour. These tours provide an overview of the most important attractions to see in Hollywood.

Hollywood Bowl:

The Hollywood Bowl is an amphitheater located in the Hollywood hills just blocks from the Chinese Theater. It is the headquarters of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and Bob Marley are just a few of the legendary artists who have performed there. Several concerts are scheduled throughout the summer months. The Hollywood Bowl is open to visitors throughout the year.

Theme Parks

There are four major theme parks in the area of Los Angeles:

The largest and most popular is Disneyland, located in Anaheim where you can enjoy more than 60 major rides and shows.
Universal Studios offers a variety of attractions like 3D animations, shows and themed roller coasters from popular films as Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, The Simpsons, ET, and The Mummy.
Six Flags Magic Mountain is a Warner Brothers theme park with over 100 rides, shows and games. This park is famous for having the best roller coasters in the world.
Knott's Berry Farm is the amusement park of Snoopy. In it you will find attractions as roller coasters and shows.

Southern California Beaches

Santa Monica beach is one of the most popular beach in Los Angeles. Santa Monica is located along the Pacific Ocean about 30 minutes from downtown LA. On the Third Street Promenade, you can find interesting shops, charming outdoor cafes and entertainment of street performers.

Venice Beach, just south of Santa Monica, is famous for its unique culture. Along the coast there are small shops lined up where you can find different things, from trendy, inexpensive clothes to tattoos. "Muscle Beach" located in Venice Beach is an outdoor gym next to the ocean where many Californians do exercise. You can also rent bikes or skates and explore the shoreline.

Manhattan and Hermosa Beach are located south of Venice Beach and Marina del rey. In these beaches Beach Volleyball was born.

If you prefer a beach where you can relax away from the tourist crowds, you can go north or south of the city. Local residents of LA go to Laguna Beach, Zuma or Malibu.

Griffith Park:

Griffith Park with its planetarium is located on Hollywood Hills. It contains recreational facilities, natural areas and various family attractions. You can do pony rides, nature walks and scenic walks. Griffith Park has a great view of the famous Hollywood sign. The planetarium and observatory offer various shows throughout the day.

Cemetery Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where they were buried some famous Hollywood stars like Michael Jackson, is also nearby. In this park, you can see many marble and bronze statues and the Museum of Mexican History.

L.A. ZOO:

The LA Zoo located in Griffith Park has more than 1,500 animals, birds and reptiles in their natural. Admission to the park cost $ 8.

J. Paul Getty Center Museum

Los Angeles has a variety of historical and art museums. One of the most popular is the Getty Museum. This museum is characterized by its beautiful architecture and gardens. Besides you can appreciate a spectacular view of Los Angeles.

Studios Tour:

Many TV studios are located in Los Angeles, especially near Hollywood. You can visit studios as Warner Brothers, Paramount, Universal, NBC or CBS.
