The Business Essentials program offers a broad introduction to American business practices through an overview of key business topics including leadership, strategic planning, marketing, human resources and more.

Designed for international students who are 20 years old and above with at least two years of university study.

The Business Essentials program provides students with a comprehensive overview of U.S. management practices and skills. Designed to provide a comfortable learning environment for international participants with limited work experience, the program presents opportunities for students to compare and contrast business practices around the globe. If students stay for 3 quarters, they will be in class with American students during their second or third quarter.

Business Essentials Overview

1st Quarter (22 Units)

The Business Essentials first-quarter program covers topics including business operations, human resources, communication, team building, negotiation, planning, entrepreneurship and money and banking. The first quarter also allows students to participate in an optional on-campus internship experience.

2nd Quarter (12-15 Units)

Second-quarter courses build upon the foundation developed in the first quarter of Business Essentials. The curriculum consists of the following required courses:

3rd Quarter (12-15 Units)

Business Management - 2 or 3 quarters

The program offers students the opportunity to build their skills and knowledge in one of the following areas: Finance, International Business, or Marketing.

Designed for International students who have five or more years of full-time professional-level work experience or students who have at least a three-year university degree with one year of full-time professional work experience.

The 3-quarter program is the best option for students who would like to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT). If you do not have the required university or work experience for this program, please check the Business Essentials program.

The program includes daytime and evening classes. The daytime classes are specifically designed to meet the needs of international students and cover foundations of general business. During evening classes (primarily in the second and third quarters), participants will be studying alongside American adults.

Project Management - 2 quarters

Learn the nuances of project management and process improvement from a global perspective. Students will acquire the skills to plan, execute and complete complex projects within various types of organizations and industries.

Designed for International students who have five or more years of full-time professional-level work experience or students who have at least a three-year university degree with one year of full-time professional work experience.

As a project manager, it is imperative to understand how to effectively use Lean Six Sigma to improve quality and streamline process activities. The student will apply newly learned tools and methodologies in both comprehensive real-world and simulated hands-on projects.

This program fulfills the necessary education hours required to apply for PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP) exam or PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam.
