Application to the English language Institute
To be admitted to the ELI, applicants must do the following:
- Complete the application. Please be sure to complete the entire application form, or your application may not go through.
* When you pay your application fee online, please be sure the name of the person applying is entered in the Personal Information field and the name of the person holding the credit card is entered in the Payment Information field.

In addition to submitting the application form, you must also:
- Pay the non-refundable $100 application fee by credit card, cashier's check or money order. Sorry, no direct deposits accepted.
- Show proof of having completed secondary school (diploma or transcript).
- Reach the age of 17 before the first day of class at the ELI. If the student is not yet 18, a parent or guardian MUST sign and date the Waiver of Liability AND the Immunization Form, Section A, below #5, AND Section F at the bottom of the page.
- Show proof of financial responsibility if you intend to study on an F-1 (student) visa
Use the ELI's Certificate of Financial Responsibility.
- Provide a copy of the student's passport
- When we receive your complete application and documents, we will send F-1 applicants immigration documents1 by express mail. You must present this form to the authorities in your country to obtain a visa to study in the U.S.A.
- Immunizations:
U.S. immigration laws require visiting students to the United States to submit a record of their immunizations. International students at ELI must prove they have had the following:
- A current PPD skin test, taken within the last year, that confirms they are free of Tuberculosis
- One of the following vaccine combinations is acceptable
- 2 MMRs
- 1 MMR + 1 Measles
- 2 Measles + 1 Rubella
- A positive Titer blood test with lab report

- All students must provide proof of health insurance. If you purchase health insurance in your country, the company MUST fill out the Insurance Verification Form. All responses to this form must be "yes." If you wish to be sure your insurance is acceptable, it is preferable to purchase it when you arrive at the ELI.

Application Deadline
In order to allow time to issue immigration documents and to make sure that space will be available, completed applications should be in the ELI at least three weeks before the session begins. *Spaces are limited. If you want to be sure, please apply with 2 or 3 months in advance.
