You can decide on the city last. The OI Promise, the books and the teachers’ qualifications travel with you to every Oxford International school, so the choice is about the life you want around your classes.
In the UK, pick Greenwich for London, Oxford for the famous colleges, Brighton for the seaside or Edinburgh for the castle and the cobbled Old Town. In Canada, Toronto gives you the big-city skyline, Vancouver the ocean and the mountains, and Halifax a friendly student city on the Atlantic. New York puts you in the middle of Manhattan, and Melbourne gives you coffee, music and the choice of morning or evening classes. Ask us and we will set the cities side by side for you.
What courses does Oxford International offer?
19 programs, from 20 morning lessons a week to a university pathway, plus online courses and teacher training. Most start any Monday, and in the UK and Canada you can stay for as many weeks as you like.
Where your English starts to move. You get 20 lessons a week, all in the mornings from Monday to Friday, on speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary at your level. That is 15 hours a week in the UK and Canada, and about 16.7 in New York, where lessons last 50 minutes. Afternoons are yours for the city, and in New York this course works with an F-1 visa.
General English in the morning plus a few afternoon electives you choose, like Confident Speaking or 21st Century Business. In Canada that is 26 lessons a week, and in New York 23, about 19 hours either way. We love it as a balance: noticeably more English, and still plenty of free time.
Faster progress, with 2 specialised electives every afternoon on top of your morning classes. You get 30 lessons a week in the UK and Canada, and 27 in New York, 22.5 hours either way. Choose electives like Exam Skills, Customer Service or Global Leadership, and add private lessons if you want one-to-one time. The pick for anyone who wants to come home speaking with real confidence.
The biggest week Oxford International offers: 20 lessons of General English in the morning and 20 elective lessons in the afternoon, 30 hours in total. Take it in Toronto, Vancouver or Halifax when you have a deadline, a university place or a job interview coming up and want every hour to count.
General English every morning, then 10 IELTS lessons in the afternoon, for 30 lessons and 22.5 hours a week. You practise all 4 parts of the exam and keep building your everyday English at the same time. Available in London Greenwich, Oxford, Brighton and Edinburgh, and a great fit if you need a score for a UK university or a visa.
Shorter mornings in Manhattan. Vacation 18 gives you 18 lessons a week, 15 hours, and Part-Time Morning gives you 6 or 9. These courses are made for a visitor visa or ESTA, or for anyone already living in New York. If you are coming on an F-1 student visa, choose Morning 20 or more.
Your English classes in the afternoon, from 13:30, with Academic English or electives like Business English and Confident Speaking. Afternoon 20 gives you 20 lessons a week, about 16.7 hours, and works with an F-1 visa. Vacation Afternoon 18 suits a visitor visa or ESTA. Your mornings are yours for New York.
20 hours a week, and you choose when. The morning timetable runs Monday to Thursday, 08:30 to 14:15, which gives you a long weekend every week. The evening timetable runs Monday to Friday, 17:00 to 21:15, and leaves your days free. You can stay from 1 week up to 70 weeks.
Exam preparation and academic English in one course, across 3 levels from intermediate to advanced. You sit a practice IELTS test every Wednesday, so you always know your score. It is also the course that leads into Oxford International’s university partners in Australia.
Focused preparation for the Cambridge B2 First or C1 Advanced, with 20 hours a week of exam practice in the morning or the evening. A Cambridge certificate is a strong line on your CV, and Melbourne is a brilliant city to earn it in.
A course built around speaking. You learn through role plays, acting, singing, presentations and guest speakers, and you leave with the confidence to talk to anyone. Perfect if your grammar is fine but you want to speak more freely.
Short business courses with a certificate at the end. In Vancouver each one lasts 4 weeks, with 12 hours on campus and 8 online each week, on topics like Strategic Marketing, Sales and Negotiation, and Leadership and Management. New for summer 2027, New York runs Strategic Marketing and Leadership and Management in the afternoons, 2 weeks each or both in 4 weeks.
English that fits around your family. Your timetable follows your child’s school day: General English in the morning and electives in the early afternoon, 26 lessons and 19.5 hours a week, with 14 students at most. A lovely way to make Halifax home while your children go to school.
Your route from English to a degree. In Toronto and Vancouver you study 30 or 40 lessons a week and go on to a partner college or university without a separate English test, and University College Pathways in Halifax open the door to universities and colleges on Canada’s East Coast. In New York the pathway leads to Mercy University and Westcliff University, and in Melbourne one visa covers your English and your degree.
Study first, then work in Canada. The package gives you a Working Holiday sponsorship letter, 12 weeks of English in Toronto, Vancouver or Halifax, and job-search support with interview training. It is for you if you are 18 to 35 and your country has a youth mobility agreement with Canada. Places are limited, so tell us early.
Learn to make coffee the Melbourne way, in the city that lives on it. You practise latte art, learn Australian customer service and build your barista CV, all in English. Perfect if you want a skill you can use anywhere in the world.
Live classes with a teacher from OI Digital Institute, Oxford International’s online school, plus self-study on SPARK. Study full-time, 2 hours a day, or part-time, 3 sessions of 90 minutes a week, and add one-to-one hours if you like. There is also a Canada timetable that fits the Americas, and you finish with a certificate from Oxford International English Schools.
Exam preparation from home, one-to-one or in your own small group. Prepare for IELTS, Cambridge First or Advanced, KET, PET or BEC, with most of your time spent with a teacher and the rest on self-study. Choose anything from 5 to 60 hours, and you get a personalised certificate at the end.
Teacher training accredited by Trinity College London, fully online. The CertTESOL is one of the qualifications Oxford International teachers themselves hold, and you can take it full-time or part-time. The DipTESOL is the next step once you are teaching. A great choice if you want to teach English around the world.
Most students begin with General English, Semi-Intensive or Intensive English, then shape the week around their goals with electives or private lessons

What should you know before enrolling at Oxford International?
Everything to check before you book, taken from Oxford International’s website, its 2027 brochure and price list, and the questions students send us every week.
Costs, Dates, Application Process and other Considerations
Application Process - Send us the contact form and an advisor will reply with the steps for your passport and the cities you like. Each country asks for its own documents, so we send you a clear checklist. You can take Oxford International’s placement test before you fly, so you join the right class from day one. For New York, Oxford International issues the I-20 you need for an F-1 visa, and for Melbourne we prepare your student visa application with you. For students of 16 or 17, parents get the homestay, the transfer and the consent form confirmed in writing first.
Dates of the Program - Most courses start any Monday of the year, except public holidays: General English, Semi-Intensive, Intensive, Super Intensive, General English + IELTS, the New York courses and the Melbourne English courses. A few run on set dates: University College Pathways in Halifax, the Business English micro-credentials, and Master Barista, which starts once a month. Online General English starts every 2 weeks. Give us a rough date and we will send you the Mondays that work.
Length of the Program - In the UK and Canada you can study from 1 week, with no upper limit. In New York you can stay up to 104 weeks, holidays included, and in Melbourne General English runs up to 70 weeks. English for Parents is 28 weeks or more, the micro-credentials run 2 or 4 weeks, and the Working Holiday package is 12 weeks. Planning a long stay? We match the weeks to your visa before anything is booked.
Costs - The price depends on the city, the number of lessons and how long you stay, and the weekly price goes down on longer bookings. Fill in the form at the end of this page and an advisor sends you a written quote for each city you like, with tuition, enrolment, books, accommodation, the airport transfer and this month’s promotion all in one place. For a quick first figure, try our cost of studying abroad calculator.
Health Insurance - The rule changes from country to country. In Canada, medical insurance is required for every student. In the USA, you show proof of cover or buy it through Oxford International. In the UK, insurance is recommended, so you can relax and enjoy your weeks. In Australia, a student visa comes with Overseas Student Health Cover, which you arrange before you fly. Oxford International can add insurance to your booking in the UK, Canada and the USA, and we confirm what your city needs before you pay.
Minimum Age - 16 at every school, and 18 in Melbourne. The Business English micro-credentials start at 17. Homestays start at 16 (18 in Melbourne), and student residences at 18, or 19 in Halifax and Vancouver. If you are 16 or 17, every school has a safeguarding officer, and in the UK you stay with a host family on breakfast or half board, with your parents’ signed consent.
Minimum English Level - You can start General English, Semi-Intensive, Intensive and Super Intensive as a complete beginner. General English + IELTS, Afternoon 20, the University Pathways and Master Barista start at B1. University College Pathways in Halifax and the micro-credentials in Vancouver start at B2, and the Cambridge courses at B2 for First and C1 for Advanced. You take a placement test, and you move up as soon as you are ready.
Visa Regulations - Your passport, the country and the length of your course decide it. In the UK, many nationalities can study for up to 6 months as a visitor, and the Short-term study visa covers 6 to 11 months. In the USA, Morning 20 and every longer course work with an F-1 visa, and Oxford International issues your I-20. The 18-lesson courses in New York suit a visitor visa or ESTA. In Canada, a course of 6 months or less usually needs only a visitor visa or an eTA, and a longer one needs a study permit. In Australia, a student visa means at least 4 weeks of study. Our advisors put your application together with you, free of charge.
Working While You Study: - Head for Canada or Australia. In Canada, the Working Holiday package (IEC) gives you a sponsorship letter, 12 weeks of English and help finding a job, if you are 18 to 35 and your country has a youth mobility agreement with Canada. In Australia, a student visa usually lets you work up to 48 hours a fortnight while your course is running. Mention work in your first message and we will plan the course, the visa and the city with that in mind.
Accommodation - Oxford International arranges homestays in every city, with your own bedroom and the meals you choose. In most cities you can also pick a student residence: the Mitre Study Hotel in Brighton, VITA Student and McMillan Student Village in Greenwich, Student Castle in Oxford, HOEM in Toronto, the YWCA Student Hotel and GEC Living in Vancouver, and the West Side YMCA and 92NY150 in New York. Edinburgh is all about homestays, and they are a great way to practise your English at dinner. Ask us and the prices for each option come with your quote.
Extra Curricular Activities - Each school puts out a monthly calendar of activities, and joining in is the fastest way to a new group of friends. Think beach days and water sports in Brighton, a day trip to Loch Ness from Edinburgh, winter skating in Toronto, hikes at Capilano in Vancouver, hockey games in Halifax, and the Formula One Grand Prix and the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne. Walking tours, movie nights, pub nights and karaoke fill the rest of the week.
Airport Pickup - You can add an airport transfer in any Oxford International city when you book your course. You land, a driver takes you straight to your homestay or residence, and your first evening is for unpacking and a good night’s sleep.
First day of classes - Your first morning is an orientation day. The school team welcomes you, you meet your teacher and you go on a walking tour of the area. If you have not taken the placement test before you fly, you take it that morning. You get your timetable, your National Geographic Learning book and your SPARK login, and your study plan starts from there.
Remember that rent, food and transport usually add up to more than the course. Look at the whole picture when you compare cities

What do students say about studying at Oxford International?
Two students, in their own words. Claudia studied in Oxford and Eduardo in New York, inside Mercy University’s Manhattan campus. Between them they cover what people ask us about most: how fast your English improves and what life is like around your classes.
I absolutely loved studying at Oxford International. Oxford is such a beautiful city, full of students from everywhere. I made amazing friends from different countries, and on weekends we sometimes took the train to London, which was so easy. What surprised me the most was how fast my English improved. The way teachers organize the classes really helped me start speaking more naturally. I never thought I could make so much progress in such a short time. I recommend studying English at Oxford International.
Studying English in New York was always a dream of mine, and thankfully the agency ViveCampus recommended Oxford International to me. Our classes were inside Mercy University, so I actually felt like a university student in the US, not just someone taking English lessons. And the location was crazy, right in front of the Empire State Building! I loved finishing class and just walking around Manhattan, discovering new places every day. The classes were great and I learned a lot.
